A couple of days ago I had what my doctor described as a minor surgical procedure. I’m fine, but I think I need a few days to recover. And by a few days I don’t mean three or four. I mean a good week or two.
It’s a long story, but the long and the short of it is that as a result of the surgery, I have been spending a lot of time on my bed and not a lot of time doing things that do not include a computer. As a result, I’m having a fair amount of trouble concentrating on much of anything other than journaling. I’ve gotten a lot of writing done, but I’m having to force myself. It’s not pretty. Anyway, I’m hoping to be able to return to my normal routine later this week, but it may not be until the weekend.
I also think it’s time for me to catch up on some reading. I’m going to try to read at least one book a week. I might even try two. I’ll see how it goes.
I’ve been trying to do a bit more catching up on stuff that I’ve been putting off, such as reading. I was surprised and a little disappointed, however, when I realized how many books I’ve yet to read. I’m not going to list them all here, but I took a look at the TBR list and found that I’m going to have to add some more reading.
I’ve also decided that I need to start putting some of the short stories that I read online into a more permanent format. I’ve been throwing them into a shared document, but I think it’s time to create a folder for them. I think that once I get those organized I’ll be able to get back to endings for two unfinished stories and start writing a few more.
I’m also due for a bit of a look around online for other stories to read. I don’t think that I’ve been reading as much as I should to keep myself in that happy reading place. There’s a nice short story anthology that I’ve been meaning to get to, so I might take a look at that.
